Every year, communities throughout Westchester and across the country gather to Celebrate, Remember, and Fight Back, as part of the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event, Relay For Life. Approximately 2 million dollars has been raised through the Yorktown events for research, education programs and patient services, and with your help, we can do even more in 2017!
One reason for our success is because of the incredible community we have, specifically the businesses, town and the individual people who have cared so much about our mission. Relay For Life is more than a fundraising event: it is a worldwide movement to end cancer. Relay represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated. It’s more important than ever that we continue to invest in this fight. Over 14 million Americans with a history of cancer are ALIVE today, and for the first time, cancer mortality rates are decreasing.
If you are a cancer survivor yourself, a family member or friend of a survivor, or someone who simply wants to show support for this important cause, you can be a part of this life-affirming event.
On Saturday, April 29th from 11am – 3pm, announce your pride by wearing purple and looking for the ribbons and balloons decorating the stores and participate in the various activities in center court.
Relay teams, including Love Struck, Poulin Palooza, Carolyn’s Crew, Lisa’s Positive Vibes and Stars of Hope will be holding fun activities to raise funds and awareness. The Yorktown Lions will also be helping out.
ACS Cancer Action Network, and Look Good, Feel Good will also be available with information.
Come and see a Relay Team set up in a store front and join the Wall of Hope. Cancer Survivors will be able to register for the free dinner on the night of Relay.
The Relay for Life of Yorktown will be held on Friday, June 9th at Jack Devito Memorial Field. Visit our website to see how you can create a team, in honor or in memory of someone that you know who has been touched by cancer, or sign up simply because you want to help finish the fight against cancer!
